Save the date: National Open Science Festival will take place on 22 October 2024

The fourth edition of the National Open Science Festival will take place on 22 October 2024 at Maastricht University. Reserve the date in your calendar!

The one-day fes­ti­val will this year take place on 22 Octo­ber in the build­ings of the School of Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ics, one of Maas­tricht Uni­ver­si­ty’s fac­ul­ties.

Open Sci­ence NL is par­tic­u­lar­ly pleased that the Open Sci­ence Com­mu­ni­ty Maas­tricht and the Uni­ver­si­ty Library Maas­tricht have offered to act as host of the Nation­al Open Sci­ence Fes­ti­val. 

Hosts of pre­vi­ous edi­tions were Wagenin­gen Uni­ver­si­ty (2021, online), Vri­je Uni­ver­siteit Ams­ter­dam (2022) and Eras­mus Uni­ver­si­ty (2023). The first edi­tions were organ­ised by the Nation­al Open Sci­ence Pro­gramme. Since its start, Open Sci­ence NL has tak­en over the organ­i­sa­tion and pro­vid­ed an annu­al bud­get for the fes­ti­val. 

How­ev­er, the Nation­al Open Sci­ence Fes­ti­val is and will remain a fes­ti­val for and by the com­mu­ni­ty. The organ­is­ing com­mit­tee of the 2024 edi­tion there­fore con­sists of staff from Maas­tricht Uni­ver­si­ty (Den­nie Hebels and Mar­iëlle Pre­voo), DANS (Saman­tha Willem­sen), LCRDM (Mar­gri­et Miede­ma) and Open Sci­ence NL (Jeroen Schar­roo). In addi­tion, a pro­gramme com­mit­tee reflect­ing the broad com­mu­ni­ty is cur­rent­ly being formed.

Registration & contact

Those who attend­ed the fes­ti­val in 2023 and gave their con­sent will receive an email when reg­is­tra­tion opens. In addi­tion, the open­ing of reg­is­tra­tion will be announced via the Open Sci­ence NL web­site and newslet­ter, and via DANS, LCRDM  and OSCNL. Addi­tion­al­ly, the Nation­al Open Sci­ence Fes­ti­val will once again fea­ture its own web­site, offer­ing peo­ple the oppor­tu­ni­ty to sign up as pre­sen­ters for pro­gramme com­po­nents or reg­is­ter as vis­i­tors.
