Dr. Moreira works as Assistant Professor at the Services and Cyber-Security (SCS) group of the University of Twente. He has background in computer science, particularly software engineering, and his research targets semantic interoperability of ICT solutions for seamless data integration and analytics.
He has been working in the application of the Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) data principles in multiple contexts, such as for the reproducibility of scientific workflows (machine learning pipelines), the topic of his postdoctoral research at the VU Amsterdam.
He contributes to standardization work groups, such as the European Telecommunication Standardization Institute (ETSI) e.g., the IoT ontology standard (SAREF) for e-Health and Aging Well domain. He participates in working groups of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and implementation networks of GO-FAIR, representing the GO-FAIR Brazil office in Europe.
During his PhD he was the main author of more than 10 peer-reviewed publications, including a best paper award in FOIS 2018. His PhD research targeted Artificial Intelligence for data integration in smart emergency services that are supported by IoT technologies, within the context of disaster risk reduction for smart cities. Dr. Moreira is a reviewer of academic publications for journals and conferences.
