MONTHLY ROUND-UP: SEPTEMBER 2021

The September round-up from 4TU.ResearchData brings a new semester, new published datasets, new community members, a new FAIR Data Fund and our next community call!

News

  • Welcome to our new community members!
  • Making waves with WiFi data

University of Twente PhD researcher, Jeroen Klein Brinke, explains how wireless sensing technology can be used to provide healthcare for the elderly.

His dataset, Channel state information (WiFi traces) for 6 activities, has been downloaded more than 1000 times and was one of our top downloaded datasets in March this year.

Read more about Jeroen’s motivations to publish his research data and the promise of wireless sensing technology to benefit society.

  • Microlectures on Research Data Management: The Bachelor’s edition

Research data management matters!

The University of Twente has created a series of microlectures to educate Bachelor’s students about how to manage their data throughout their studies.

Based on 5 simple questions, all aspects of RDM are addressed in fun, short and engaging online recordings!

Read more about how data steward, Judith Brands and her colleagues created the microlectures and published them online.

  • FAIR Data Fund 2021 – Autumn call for applications Opens 1st October!

A maximum budget of €3.500 is available to researchers at TU Delft, TU Eindhoven and the University of Twente to cover the costs of making their research data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (The FAIR Data Principles).

Applications open on Friday 1st October and close on Monday 1st November 2021.

Read more about the fund, meet our Spring call grantees and contact FAIRdatafund@4tu.nl for more information.
